Royal AM is in trouble, as their best player Nkanyiso Zungu leaves to join another club in the PSL
Nkanyiso Zungu, a former midfielder for Orlando Pirates, has departed Royal AM to try his luck with another DStv Premiership team.
The left-footer left the Buccaneers in June after the team decided not to extend his contract. He made 12 appearances while on loan with Richards Bay FC last season, scoring one goal across all competitions.
Since the beginning of the pre-season, Zungu has been working out with Thwihli Thwahla, together with players like Sibusiso Sibeko and Mxolisi Mkhonto. In the colours of AM, he even competed in the KZN Premier's Cup and Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup.
His recruitment was a goal of the Pietermaritzburg-based team. Due to the FIFA suspension, they are still unable to sign players.
NKANYISO ZUNGU TRAINING WITH AMAZULU
Zungu has now left Royal AM because the future there is uncertain, and he is now training with his former team, AmaZulu FC. He joined Pablo Franco Martin's team in the middle of the week, and thus far, according to FAR Post sources, he has excelled.
The 27-year-old took part in an exhibition game at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday against Royal AM.
He hopes to return to Usuthu, the club where it all began for him when he was a member of their Youth Development program. In 2015, he was promoted to the main team, and in 2018, he was loaned to Jomo Cosmos.
After securing a permanent transfer to Stellenbosch FC that same year, he played for the Winelands team for just two seasons before joining Pirates in 2020.
USUTHU TO DECIDE ON OBURU AND NTSHANGASE
Zungu is the third player undergoing evaluation; the club has not yet made a decision about Phumlani Ntshangase and Vincent Oburu, two trialists.
Pablo Franco has also voiced a favourable opinion on Ntshangase, thus things appear hopeful for him. Oburu has a lot of work to do in the meantime to win over the Spanish strategist, who is in need of a striker.😋😊😊😊😊
