SuperSport is eager to continue its winning streak against Arrows
Prior to Tuesday's DStv Premiership match against SuperSport United, Golden Arrows head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi acknowledges he would need to pay closer attention to goalkeeper Ismail Watenga.
After suffering a discouraging 4-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, Abafana Bes'thende rebounded with a 3-2 victory over recently promoted Polokwane City in Mpumalanga on Saturday. With 7 points from their first 4 games, they are now 4th in the rankings.
However, Watenga's poor free-kick in the 53rd minute allowed an unmarked Lebohang Nkaki to head home at the back post to make the difference to just one goal, forcing Vilakazi's team to scramble in the dying moments.
Vilakazi said that he spoke with Watenga following the game and believes the international from Uganda needs to improve in terms of better commanding his territory. Later that evening at the Danie Craven Stadium, SuperSport, who had also come from behind to defeat Stellenbosch 2-1, maintained their flawless start to the season.
The Pretoria giants won their second straight game in the league, pulling closer with a game remaining to local rival Sundowns in second place by 5 points.
Gavin Hunt, the head coach of Matsatsantsa, criticized the field after his team defeated Cape Town City 1-0 at the TUT Stadium and complimented his players.
Players to look out for
Golden Arrows
Nduduzo Sibiya, a 28-year-old winger, has made a case for a spot in the starting line-up after playing a good role in the comeback victory over Rise And Shine. He not only scored his first goal of the year but also assisted Themba Mantshiyane on the goal. Sibiya came off the bench at Richards Bay and was not used as a replacement against Moroka Swallows before starting the next two games.
SuperSport United
Gamphani Lungu: Hunt has confidence in the 24-year-old Zambian winger after he saw him play in all the league's first four games. Along with his one assist in the 2-0 victory over the Natal Rich Boyz, Lungu scored his first goal of the year from the penalty spot against the Maroons.
