Good news for South Africa: Serero signs with new club
Thulani Serero, a midfielder from South Africa, has joined Khorfakkan Club of the UAE Pro League.
Serero was unquestionably a fan favourite throughout his four seasons with Al Jazira and was also a stand-out performer in the league.
But he departed the team in June, and ever since, he has been looking for a new team.
After leaving Ajax Cape Town for its affiliate club, where he played six seasons and won four league titles, the 33-year-old midfielder has spent the previous 13 seasons abroad.
After two seasons with Eredivisie team Vitesse, he then made the lucrative transfer to the Gulf, where he has spent the last four seasons as a star.
He was introduced on Monday by Pitso Mosimane's Al Wahda and Khorfakkan Club, both of whom play in the same league.
My view as a writer
Most players these days seem to be going to the UAE, because of the money the clubs offer that side.
