Gunfire: Matches in the HWBSL are cancelled due to gunfire at the stadium
The cancellation this weekend of two games at the King Zwelithini Stadium for safety concerns overshadowed Round 22 of the Hollywood Bets Super League.

This comes after disturbances caused by a crowd that entered the match area brandishing weapons. The decision to cancel the doubleheader was made out of concern for everyone's safety following a discussion with the stakeholders, including stadium management, SAFA, and the national broadcaster who planned to stream the matches between Royal AM and City Lads as well as Durban Ladies and TS Galaxy. In due course, SAFA will reveal a new date for these games.
In the meantime, the University of Western Cape increased its advantage over First Touch Academy in Polokwane by winning 2-0. With 57 points from 21 games and a seven-point advantage over Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in second place after the win, they remain in first place. The Academy from Limpopo, which has 24 points from 21 games, is in tenth place.
Following their successful participation in the CAF Women's Champions League COSAFA qualifiers in Durban, Sundowns have played two fewer games.
After defeating the University of Pretoria 3-2, a team that is currently sixth in the log with 38 points after 21 games, JVW Football Club has risen to third position on the standings with 44 points.
