Must see: Why Orlando fans did not surprise DRC Coach

 Sébastien Desabre, the head coach of DR Congo, claims he wasn't shocked by the large turnout of supporters for the team against Bafana Bafana at Orlando Stadium.

When Congolese fans in Orlando outnumbered locals on Tuesday afternoon, there were some unexpected incidents.

Hugo Broos, the head coach of Bafana, criticized the scenes and expressed hope that support for the squad would increase, while SAFA CEO Lydia Monyapao claimed that fans were mobilized.

The Frenchman, though, believes that for many of them, it was simply an opportunity to witness some of their heroes for the first time.

No… Our duty is to first and foremost make our supporters happy, he added. We know our fans, we know them. We have stars on my team and players in Europe, and these fans may have seen them for the first time. Mbemba, Bakumbu, and Kakuta, in general.

And we know that with qualification for AFCON [for the first time since 2019], the last one we weren't at AFCON, and I think it's the most important thing, to give dreams and pride to the fans.

  Lebo Mothiba, a striker for the Bafana Bafana, claims he is a fan of Mamelodi Sundowns and that they are likely to be the only team he would play for if he were to return home.  Vela Khumalo, the head coach of Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Diski Challenge, has given an explanation for why three members of the first squad were used in the team's 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates. Some fans had concerns when Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba, and Aden McCarthy were assigned to the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium starting line-up. All three of them were given promotions last year, and Shabalala has consistently been included in match-day teams. We wanted to give Mduduzi, Duba, and Aden game time, Khumalo said to Super Sport . The first-team side has been quite busy. The first team doesn't receive that much playing time, and we want results from them. They are still young and capable, thus they belong here.
