Secret revealed: Why Patrick Maswanganyi is thriving at Pirates, according to the former coach

 Farouk Khan, Patrick Maswanganyi's former coach, has explained why he thinks the brilliant striker is succeeding at Orlando Pirates.

At Stars of Africa Academy, while Maswanganyi was a teenager, the two collaborated on projects.

Since switching from SuperSport United to the Soweto giants, Maswanganyi has gotten right to work. He gave some indications that he might perform well for his new team by scoring three goals while on the Bucs' pre-season trip to Spain.

The 25-year-old has been a vital player for the Sea Robbers since the start of the 2023–24 PSL season. The talented attacker has established himself as a fixture in the starting 11.

He has participated in five goals so far from seven games across all competitions. Maswanganyi has two goals and three assists in his career.

In addition, the former Stars of Africa star has earned two Man of the Match honours for these outstanding on-field efforts.

I believe he enjoys the way Orlando Pirates play. It reminds him a lot of how he was raised in the school. Nothing wrong with SuperSport, we play a bit of an attacking game, Khan told FARPost.

He takes more of the ball, and I think Pirates' approach and game model suit him. In the majority of the build-ups, he is focus.

[In a team], there will be bigger players like Thembinkosi Lorch, but the players now respect him more because the coaches have seen what he is capable of. He's now, in my opinion, a key member of Orlando Pirates team.

Royal AM is in trouble, as their best player Nkanyiso Zungu leaves to join another club in the PSL

  Nkanyiso Zungu, a former midfielder for Orlando Pirates, has departed Royal AM to try his luck with another DStv Premiership team. The left-footer left the Buccaneers in June after the team decided not to extend his contract. He made 12 appearances while on loan with Richards Bay FC last season, scoring one goal across all competitions. Since the beginning of the pre-season, Zungu has been working out with Thwihli Thwahla, together with players like Sibusiso Sibeko and Mxolisi Mkhonto. In the colours of AM, he even competed in the KZN Premier's Cup and Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup. His recruitment was a goal of the Pietermaritzburg-based team.
